The information appears in a press release from Øksnes municipality on Tuesday night and is signed by infection control doctor Ellen B. Pedersen.
The press release states that the outbreak does not include the fishing industry, but the local population in the municipality.
– We have infections among children in kindergarten and school, among adults, both young and old, says the infection control doctor, who further says that it is the unvaccinated who are hardest hit in connection with the outbreak.
The municipality has made a number of adjustments to some services for users of the municipal services, as the infection also affects many workers in the health and care service. Pedersen reports that she hopes these measures will be short-lived.
– We are now expanding the offer of vaccination, and encourage everyone to take advantage of this in the coming weeks, Pedersen states.
According to statistics from the Reporting System for Infectious Diseases, there were six new cases in Øksnes on Monday. In the last 14 days it has been 26.
