The DriveTribe motoring social network, founded on 28 November 2016 by moderators Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in collaboration with investor and moderator Ernesto Gottfried Schmitt, will end at the end of the month – after five years of operation.
According to a number of reports, the project was never very successful, the current cross-sectoral changes, which were supposed to lead to significant cuts in marketing budgets and thus reduced advertising revenue, but the project seemed to definitely break the neck, as evidenced by a statement issued by three well-known moderators.

„We are all really disappointed that the challenges in this sector – which have not been helped in the slightest by the ongoing pandemic – have simply made it impossible to continue doing business in its current form., “Said Jeremy Clarkson in a statement.
James May was less sentimental in his statement, but he described the situation clearly. “Ultimately, it is a business and businesses are kicked in the crotch by everything that happens in the world, “He said in a statement.

But Hammond brought at least a small consolation to those who watched the network and loved its contents. According to him, part of the content, together with familiar faces, should be moved to its social networks, where the brand will at least partially survive and offer fans the opportunity to still have a lively discussion.
In addition, avid DriveTribe users were given the opportunity to download all their content from the network by the end of the month, so that they would not lose it once the site was closed.
