The perpetrators of wasting and kicking offerings at the affected location Semeru eruption, East Java, is now facing criminal charges for his actions. Now he is known to have been reported by two religious organizations.
This was said by the Head of Public Relations East Java Police Gatot Repli Handoko. Two organizations that reported the perpetrators of the offerings were Prajaniti Hindu Indonesia East Java (East Java) and GP Ansor Lumajang.
“We received the two reports, later we will make them to support the initial police report that we have made,” said Gatot, to CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (11/1).
The police, he said, would investigate this case and take action against the perpetrators in accordance with the applicable laws. As far as the perpetrator is suspected of violating Article 156 of the Criminal Code.
“What is clear is that we process it according to the existing provisions… Article 156 is clear,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Hindu Community Organization on behalf of itself Prajaniti Hindu Indonesia East Java (East Java) reported the perpetrators of throwing and kicking offerings in locations affected by the Semeru eruption.
The report was submitted by the ranks of the DPD Prajaniti East Java through the Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) of the East Java Regional Police, Monday (10/11) yesterday.
“We want the perpetrators to be searched thoroughly because the religious communities in East Java are harmonious and there is no friction,” said Deputy Work for Law and Politics of the DPD Prajaniti Hindu Indonesia, East Java I Ketut Swardana, Tuesday (11/1).
Ketut assessed that the action of the man who threw the offerings had tarnished and hurt Hindus and the local community.
“It is very, very painful for the people of Lumajang, especially Hindus,” he said.
He hopes that the East Java Regional Police will seriously handle the case because it is feared that the incident will have a national impact.
“We need to find out what the motivation of this person is, apart from throwing it away, we are worried that there is a motivation for fighting between religious people,” he said.
He said that his party had also gathered information regarding the identity of the perpetrators and their area of origin. Meanwhile, he said, the perpetrators came from East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
“If you look at the data, he is from East Lombok,” he said.
A similar report was also made by the GP Ansor Lumajang Branch Manager to the local police station. He also asked the police to thoroughly investigate the act of intolerance.
This incident was previously revealed through a video that went viral on social media. In the video, a man can be seen throwing offerings in the Supiturang Village area, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang. There are two videos circulating with a duration of 30 seconds and 20 seconds.
In the two videos, men wearing gray clothes, black vests, and black headscarves throw and spill some offerings that were previously placed in a place.
“This is what angers God. Rarely is it realized that this is what actually invites the wrath of Allah, until Allah sends down his punishment. Allah is the Greatest,” said the man in the video.
