For that, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) has 24 thousand first doses of the pediatric vaccine that were distributed in the different health areas.

“Each health area has established the places and strategies according to available doses, in some they will hand out files, in others they will call according to lists or they will travel to communities. All these actions will be communicated to their respective populations and it is expected that fathers and mothers of families will come with their children, ”the CCSS reported.

The vaccination rate will be determined by the availability of injections, the institution warned. Although they expect the country to receive a weekly shipment with 48 thousand doses, they are guaranteed to cover this entire population.

In addition, the medical manager of the Fund, Randall Álvarez said that “It does not matter the place of assignment or origin, in any vaccination the dose can be applied”.

Although those summoned for this first week are those under 11 years old, there are some exceptions.

These are minors with Down syndrome or Tuberculosis, and with other high-risk diseases such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, among others. They will be called by the health centers where they receive control of their condition.

Pediatric vaccination will start with 11-year-old children and will decreasing one year in the vaccination age, on average every 3 or 4 weeks.
