THE BALL – «Mourinho is not Roma’s problem, he just needs better players» (Italy)

Franco Tancredi, former glory of Rome – defended the goal of the yellow and red for 14 seasons, between 1977 and 1990 -, now 67 years old, he was devastated by the defeat against Juventus (3-4), but made a point of praising José Mourinho.

“I don’t know if the team lacked personality, but certainly what happened against Juve, considering how the match was going, I never expected us to lose”, he began by stating, quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I didn’t watch the 10 minutes in which we conceded three goals and when I started watching the game again I couldn’t believe it. It’s the great players who raise the mentality and level of the team, as Mourinho said one of these days. The great players control the game and don’t let you have the ball, like Francesco Totti did, for example. It takes more courage and a squad of players who bring that mentality that makes the difference», he said, referring, later, directly to the Portuguese coach.

“The club’s problem is not Jose Mourinho’s management, he just needs better players. He is used to working with other types of footballers and that is not happening at Roma”, he concluded.
