Browsing through Chelsea’s official media content, we discover that a few years ago, Michael Ballack was the protagonist of a dynamic in which, among other things, he chose the best footballer he had ever seen at Stamford Bridge.
And we thought many would find it interesting to know that the historic former German midfielder didn’t settle for the usual legends (Lampard, Terry, Drogba or Cech) when giving his answer.
Stressing how much he has always appreciated the position of midfielder, the former captain of Germany named Claude Makélélé as the best player he has known during his time in English football.
“Who is the best Chelsea player you’ve played with?” Ballack was asked, who, with some hesitation, replied:
“It’s very difficult because it was a great team.
However, I would probably say Makélélé because I like smart players and the way he played and organized us as a team was fantastic, ”said the former German footballer.
He was champion in France, Spain and England. He represented his national team for over a decade. Also, he was part of the FIFA team of the year.
And he established himself as one of the best midfielders of the time. Claude Makélélé has built a very special heritage as a footballer.
