Novak Djokovic has won, for now, the legal battle to recover his visa and stay in Australia with the sole objective of playing the first ‘Grand Slam’ of the calendar from next Monday.
Judge Anthony Kelly has agreed with the tennis player in the trial that took place this Monday in Melbourne, estimating irregularities by the border police at the time of requesting and analyzing the evidence on the player’s medical exemption.
Everything is right now in the hands of Alex Hawke, the country’s immigration minister who has acknowledged that he is analyzing the case thoroughly.
At first he could have called Djokovic to testify late in the afternoon in the capital of Victoria (I had four hours to do it), but you have decided to take your time.
Hawke, 44, is part of the Australian Liberal Party. His mother died when he was 10 years old. Hawke studied at Hills Grammar School and Cumberland High School, and later went on to undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Government and Public Affairs. He enlisted in the army and served for six years rising to the rank of lieutenant in New South Wales..
A Hawke he is considered Morrison’s right hand man and one of the keys to his electoral victory in 2018. This year there are elections again in Australia and he could lose his position.
