The 86th anniversary concert of Raimonds Pauls will take place in Dzintari Concert Hall

With a magnificent concert program on January 12 at 19.00 The 86th anniversary of Maestro Raimonds Pauls will be celebrated in Dzintari Concert Hall.

The concert will feature musicians with whom Raimonds Pauls have developed special musical friendships over the years.

Alongside the Maestro, the great soprano, owner of a strong voice Dināra Rudāne and the phenomenally talented singer, stage nugget Daumants Kalniņš, as well as the vocal group “Framest”, with whom Maestro has performed many concert programs and premiered new compositions, will perform at the piano.

The singers will be accompanied by Raimonds Pauls’ always reliable stage partner – Latvian Radio Big Band, whose patron is Maestro himself.

The concert will feature an extensive and intricate jazz composition “Game Night at Dunte Pub”, Paul’s masterpieces of instrumental music from the suites “Southern Watercolors”, “Impressions” and “Mountain Sketches” and songs with Imants Ziedonis’ emotionally captivating “Cher ami”, “Sit Me in Prusta”, songs with a progressive rock “Death of a Wasp”, “Gives a Star”, the pearl of the lyric “My Child”, the thrilling ballad “Don’t Bring Stars in a Room” and other compositions by Paul from different creative periods. Its big band has been arranged by the legendary 20th century Latvian jazz musician Gunārs Rozenbergs and Kārlis Vanags, who has always been able to dress Maestro’s special handwriting together with the sound of jazz music.

Kārlis Vanags, the artistic director of the Latvian Radio Big Band, says of one of the opuses of the program – “Game Night in Duntes Pub”: “ Framest and performed by the Latvian Radio Big Band. The work composed in the seventies consists of several stylistically distinct stages, the dynamic jazz rock is replaced by a swing, a jazz waltz, a funk and a very academic sound, which has allowed a very wide range of colors to be used in the instrumentation, starting with a very fragile woodwind ensemble, which perfectly enhances the vocal parts and highlights the drama of the composition. “

Concert attendees will be required to present an interoperable vaccination or Covid-19 disease certificate as well as an identity document. Mouth and nose pads should be worn when attending concerts.
