Leeds United, a team led by Marcelo Bielsa from Rosario, was eliminated today from the FA Cup in England after losing to West Ham 2-0 with one of the goals from Argentine Manuel Lanzini.
The former River Plate continued with his scoring streak and 34 minutes into the first half he converted the first goal of West Ham’s victory at the London stadium to eliminate the “Loco” team and advance to the fourth round of the traditional tournament.
The London team sealed the result in the third minute of injury, through Jarrod Bowen’s goal.
The 28-year-old Lanzini was coming off a brace in the Premier League win over Crystal Palace (3-2) and has been screaming for six this season.
Leeds could not confirm the lift after the return to victory in the Premier and added their fourth defeat of the last five meetings.
Since taking over Bielsa in June 2018, Leeds have never been able to advance to the FA Cup round and have been eliminated in the last three editions.
In another key, Tottenham, with the return to the title of Giovani Lo Celso, went through the round after beating Morecambe, from the third division, 3 to 1 in London.
The midfielder of the Argentine national team started for the first time in the cycle of the Italian Antonio Conte and was replaced two minutes from the end, just after assisting Harry Kane for the final 3 to 1.
Lo Celso had not played from the start for the “Spurs” since October 30 last year.
Liverpool also had no trouble staying in the competition and thrashed third-division Shrewsbury 4-1 at Anfield.
The German Jurgen Klopp was once again on the local substitute bench, after completing the isolation by Covid-19.
