Toulouse, 4 arrests during the anti Pass Sanitaire demonstration

This Saturday, January 8, 2022, an undeclared anti Sanitary Pass or anti-tax event took place on the boulevards of Toulouse. By prefectural decree of January 7, 2022, Étienne Guyot, prefect of the Occitanie region, prefect of Haute-Garonne, had prohibited undeclared protest gatherings in the city center of Toulouse.

This demonstration brought together around 2,000 people, and began in a very tense climate, the prefecture said in the evening.

Tear gas versus projectiles

“Several hundred demonstrators have testified to real violence by throwing projectiles, insults and repeated attempts to constitute barricades with trash cans” indicated the authorities.

The security forces had to use tear gas canisters on several occasions in response to this hostility. 4 arrests took place including 3 for throwing projectiles and 1 arrest for contempt of a person holding public authority.
