No surprise, despite School holidays, the rapid spread of variant Omicron of Covid-19 is felt in schools, colleges and high schools of the academy of Créteil. Point.
Still more than 3000 cases among students
The number of cases Covid-19 among students remains very high despite the recent school holidays in the schools of the Académie de Creteil. According to figures from the latter, dating from January 6, Covid cases remain well above the threshold of 3,000 cases: 3,485 cases have been identified in the three departments of Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne and Seine et Marne. For comparison, there were 3509 before the Christmas holidays. On the education staff side, the trend is (very largely) on the rise: 805 Covid-19 cases have been identified, against 265 before the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Figures that should be read differently from those released each week by theCréteil academy, which cover 7 days. However, these only cover the 4 days from the start of the school year from January 3 to Thursday January 6.
Two schools closed
In addition, two school structures are currently closed in the Créteil academy: a middle school and a high school. The latter is located in Seine-et-Marne, in Provins, as revealed by our colleagues from The Republic of Seine-et-Marne.
the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, announced the order for 55 million surgical masks to equip staff in schools and educational establishments, with first deliveries from mid-January. During a meeting with the unions, the National Education stipulated that “the conditions of face-to-face / distance education will be specified taking into account the variety of situations, without imposing on teachers two forms of parallel teaching, but in making it possible to ensure the link with absent students by reactivating all the devices used to ensure pedagogical continuity in each school, college and high school ”.
The working conditions of teachers and education professionals, largely degraded due to the numerous absences linked to Covid-19, lead most of the unions to call a strike next week.
