Chelsea moved comfortably into the round of 32 of the English Cup of football with a win at Stamford Bridge against fifth division Chesterfield (5-1).
With the Belgian Romelu Lukaku and the Spanish Saúl Ñíguez in the starting eleven, but without the goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, a substitute again despite the absence of Edouard Mendy, the London team progressed without stepping on the accelerator.
Thomas Tuchel, despite the theoretical difference and evident superiority, had renowned footballers in his team such as the Danish Andreas Christensen, the Croatian Mateo Kovacic, the American Christian Pulisic, the Moroccan Hakim Ziyech or the German Timo Werner, in addition to Lukaku.
At twenty minutes Chelsea were already winning 3-0. In 6 Werner scored, in 18 Callum Hudson Odoi to pass from Pulisic and in 20 Lukaku after a Lewis Hall cross.
Before the break, another one was scored by Tuchel’s box, signed by Christensen.
The rhythm declined in the second half with the tie sealed. Before reaching game time, a foul inside the box by Calvin Miller resulted in a penalty that Ziyech converted to raise the local score to five.
Ten from the end came Chesterfield’s goal of honor through Dutchman Akwasi Asante, who rounded off the final score.
