At the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Svoge, the court took measures to keep “custody” against the 19-year-old E.Y. and PM, brought to criminal responsibility in pre-trial proceedings, conducted for illegal imprisonment and extortion – crimes under Art. 142a, para 1 and under art. 213a, para. 1 of the Penal Code.
In the course of the investigation, evidence was gathered that from 4:00 AM to 1:00 PM on January 1, 2022, the 21-year-old V.D. against his will he was kept in a house in the town of Svoge.
He was subjected to violence – punches and a metal water pipe, as well as cable ties.
The victim’s mother was blackmailed for money and threatened to kill her son. Frightened by what happened, the woman handed over the sum of BGN 100 to
the area of the railway station in the town of Svoge.
The perpetrators of the crimes have been identified and detained. With the decision of the prosecutor in the District Prosecutor’s Office – Svoge E.Y. has been charged with unlawful deprivation of liberty and
extortion, and his accomplice P.M. – for extortion.
In a hearing on the request of the prosecutor’s office to take a measure of restraint against E.Y. is P.M. the court accepted the arguments of
the state accusation for existence of a reasonable presumption for the authorship of the committed crimes.
The decision of the court on the measures taken for remand in custody may be appealed before the District Court – Sofia.
