Swindon –
Manchester City keep going on FA Cup. The Citizens successfully crushed Swindon with a score of 4-1 in the third round.
Competing at the County Ground, Saturday (8/1/2022) early morning WIB, Man City had a golden opportunity in the fourth minute. Bernardo Silva fired a shot from inside the penalty box, but the ball was still not on target.
The Citizens just managed to tear Swindon’s goal in the 14th minute. Cole Palmer to penetrate from the right side and into the penalty box. He then released a low cross into the goal mouth which was struck by Bernardo Silva. 1-0 Man City lead.
Bernardo Silva failed to double the score in the 18th minute. In a free position and very close to the goal, the Portuguese player failed to get the ball into the net.
Louis Reed made a mistake in the Swindon defense in the 28th minute. The ball was then picked up by Gabriel Jesus for a one-two with Kevin De Bruyne before finding the net for Lewis Ward. 2-0 City lead.
Harry McKirdy failed to reduce Swindon’s deficit in the 30th minute. Man City goalkeeper, Zack Steffen, had a wrong pass and McKirdy, who received the ball for free, was unable to use it well.
Man City has not been able to add a goal in the first half. The 2-0 score lasted for Pep Guardiola’s team until halftime.
Man City increased their advantage to 3-0 in the second half, which was precisely in the 59th minute. Ilkay Gundogan successfully tore the Swindon goal through the execution of a free kick.
Two minutes later, Man City were awarded a penalty after Gabriel Jesus was fouled. The Brazilian striker stepped up as the executor, but his shot was saved by Ward.
Swindon had a good chance to reduce the deficit in the 65th minute. Tyreece Simpson penetrated into the Man City penalty box, but fell while flanked by two opposing defenders and the referee did not consider it a violation to make coach Ben Garner angry.
McKirdy finally succeeded in reducing Swindin’s deficit to 1-3 in the 78th minute. Through a quick counter-attack and receiving a ball from Jonathan Williams, McKirdy managed to break into the Man City goal.
Man City only took four minutes to reply to the goal. Cole Palmer managed to score from a tight angle after snatching the ball from Bruno Silva’s shot which was blocked by the opponent. Man City lead 4-1.
Man City almost enlarge the victory in the 90th minute. Rodrigo’s shot from outside the penalty box only hit the crossbar and there were no additional goals until the game was over.
