South Korean Son Heung-min suffers from a muscle injury and will miss several key London club matches in the coming weeks, his coach Antonio Conte announced on Friday.
The Asian player was injured on Wednesday in a 2-0 loss to Chelsea in the first leg of the English League Cup semi-finals.
“Against Chelsea I made two changes, sending Son and Lucas Moura out, but not because they were injured, but to give them a little rest,” Conte explained. “The next day, (Son) felt muscle pain in one leg,” he said.
In principle, Son Heung-min will be out in the second leg of the League Cup semi-finals and also in three Premier League games: the North London derby against Arsenal, the duel against Leicester and a new confrontation with Chelsea.
Tottenham (33 points) are sixth in the English standings, two points behind Arsenal, fourth and last team within the Champions League zone.
