Paramedic Fernando Drew Arauz he was sent preventively to the Palmasola jail by determination of Judge Primo Flores, after being accused of marketing and supplying Janssen vaccines from the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson to people who wanted to travel abroad and wanted to avoid long lines at the immunization points set up in the capital of Santa Cruz.
The accused was discovered after a woman denounced him. The victim He refers that he hired the paramedic, by suggestions of friends, to receive the Covid-19 vaccine and be able to travel to the United States. However, the vaccination card he received was not validated to make his trip abroad.
The affected woman denounced that she deposited Bs 1,400 bolivianos to a bank account for the vaccine provided by the paramedic.
According to investigations by the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Special Force Of Fight Against Crime (Felcc), there are at least five victims and some did not receive the vaccination card promised by the accused.
The man was apprehended on Wednesday by agents of the Felcc when he was driving his vehicle through the Belgian neighborhood, in Santa Cruz of the Sierra. In the search, vaccination cards with the CDC logo were found, with the signature of the accused on the back. Likewise, ampoules, syringes, cooling gel and evidence of Covid -19 were found.
Among the documents of evidence against the accused, which are in the investigation booklet, is the report of the person in charge of the Expanded Program on Immunization (PAI), Dorian Jiménez, who explained that, according to current regulations, the commercialization of vaccines by private persons is prohibited, since only the Ministry of Health and Sports is in charge of its distribution.
The prosecutor Marcela Terceros charged Fernando Drew with crimes against public health and usurpation of functions. In its substantiation, it demonstrated the possible authorship of the accused, which was valued by Judge Primo Flores, who decided to send him to Palmasola for 150 days. The precautionary hearing took place this Friday.
