Graciela Villar, president of the Wide Front in Montevideo, said this Friday that the first reaction of the coalition representatives in the Departmental Board of Montevideo Faced with disagreements over the loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) was to hold “a press conference with a person who was an aspiring mayor and today does not represent anyone, not even to a political body ”, referring to Laura raffo, president of the Departmental National Party.
Asked about his statements, given that Raffo has a position within the National Party, Villar expressed at a press conference: “What information did you have about how IDB loans are handled and, in particular, what the plans are like? Did the lady who participated in that event know that until 2050 these sanitation plans are already planned, that there is support from the IDB loan that renews them because there is strict and complete compliance with this issue? Sanitation issues are untouchable ”.
In this sense, Villar stressed that does not see political will in the coalition multicolor to negotiate the IDB loan. “If from the speech you want to make an opposition, that’s fine, they have every right, but not to hold the people of Montevideo hostage on two issues that are fundamental,” he added.
Regarding the request of members of the Departmental Board to open the project presented to the IDB to add proposals, Villar said that “it is not so easy” to do it, although “it is possible to incorporate some of the aspirations of the opposition in aspects that are supported by the economies of the Municipality itself and there equate ”.
“There are possibilities of agreeing on a package that is at the cost of the budget of the Intendancy and that allows us to continue advancing with this new proposal for mobility in cleaning ”, he stressed.
