It reports the Danish royal house on their websites.
The reason is the situation around the corona pandemic.
«Her Majesty the Queen, together with Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess, has decided to cancel the planned gala gathering at Rosenborg Castle on 4 February on the occasion of the Crown Princess’ 50th birthday», It says in the announcement.
The Royal House explains that the decision was made in respect of the many partners involved in a celebration of this size.
«It would be very difficult to implement», Writes the court.
Crown Princess Mary is married to Crown Prince Frederik (53). The hope is now that the party can be held later in the year. On the actual day, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess will only now celebrate privately.
More cancellations
The cancellation follows in the wake of the Danish royal house also dropping the large planned celebration of Queen Margrethe’s 50 years on the throne. The celebration of the 81-year-old monarch was to take place next week. Instead, only a small selection will be made.
Here at home, the Norwegian royal family has decided to postpone the 18th anniversary celebration to Princess Ingrid Alexandra January 21 – for the same reason. The government’s planned gift to the princess was a gala dinner at Oslo’s new library Deichman Bjørvika on Thursday 20 January, with music and other cultural elements.
In addition, a gala dinner was planned at the Palace. Since the princess is heir to the throne, her day of authority is an anniversary in Norwegian history.
