In Kazakhstan, security officials detained 3,706 people. This was announced on Friday, January 7, by the Khabar-24 TV channel with reference to the so-called Operational Headquarters for Combating Terrorism. On the air, it was clarified that this information is relevant at the moment.
Meanwhile, foreign troops continue to arrive in the country. Nine planes with Russian servicemen and equipment have already landed in Almaty. This was reported to reporters in the military department.
“Nine Russian military transport aircraft Il-76 with servicemen and airborne forces landed at the Almaty airfield of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the ministry said.
The official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, said that more than 75 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are deploying units of the Russian contingent of the CSTO peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan around the clock.
According to him, Russian military transport aircraft are also involved in the operational transfer of military contingents of Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. As reported TASS in the CSTO, the number of the group is about 2.5 thousand people and, if necessary, can be increased.
Also, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported on the dispatch of 100 military personnel to Kazakhstan as part of the CSTO forces. The Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that their task will be to protect strategic facilities.
In turn, the President of Kyrgyzstan signed a decree on sending the country’s military personnel to Kazakhstan as part of the CSTO mission.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan said that 20 people in camouflage were trying to attack the detention center in Taldykorgan. It is noted that the attack was repulsed, one attacker was killed, one was wounded.
In addition, it became known that the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States will hold an emergency meeting on the events in Kazakhstan on January 11.
