The RMI has announced code yellow for smoothness for almost the entire country. Friday evening it could become very dangerous on the road due to snowfall. The emergency number 1722 was also activated.

“Today we expect winter showers, usually snow showers above 400 to 500 m altitude, which can temporarily intensify in the evening over the south of the Ardennes and in Belgian Lorraine”, according to the RMI. “South of Sambre and Meuse we therefore expect 5 to 10 cm of fresh snow in 24 hours, or very locally a little more.”
Code yellow was therefore proclaimed in all Flemish provinces from Friday evening 10 pm to Saturday morning 9 am. Only on the coast there is no code yellow.
The RMI also warns of heavy precipitation. “We expect regular periods of precipitation or showers between Friday morning and Sunday morning. Sometimes these are intense, with as much as 25mm falling in different places in 24 hours, or even more in some areas. Very locally, precipitation totals of 30 or 35 mm in 24 hours are possible,” it sounds. Before that, code yellow was announced in the provinces of Hainaut, Namur and Luxembourg, at least until Sunday morning.
