Samsung announced the latest internet of things (IoT) products at the 2022 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) event. One of the unique IoT products is a product called “The Freestyle”.
This device is Samsung’s latest projector, for displaying images onto walls or other surfaces. However, unlike other conventional projectors, The Freestyle projector made Samsung has capabilities like a Smart TV, and its compact shape resembles a CCTV camera.

This mini projector is also equipped with a cradle, which allows the body to be rotated up to 180 degrees. Thus, the image from the 830 gram projector can be displayed on walls, roofs, floors, and other object surfaces.
Directly from Samsung Electronics’ TV Executive Vice President and Head of the Sales & Marketing Visual Display Business Team, Simon Sung said that this device is designed to meet the entertainment needs of users, especially Gen Z and millennials.
“The Freestyle is a unique projector designed for versatility and high flexibility, to meet the changing lifestyles of consumers,” explained Simon in a written statement received by KompasTekno, Thursday (6/1/2022).
In terms of features, The Freestyle offers a variety of services and applications that are available in the Samsung Smart TV line. This means that users can stream various content from popular streaming services without having to connect the projector to a smartphone, laptop, or TV set.
In addition, this projector also supports screen mirroring and casting features from Android and iOS smartphones. Other features that can be considered quite interesting are the Auto Keystone and Auto Leveling features, which allow the projector to adjust the display and image ratio to be proportional automatically, even if the surface of the wall or target object is not flat.
There is also an Auto Focus feature that allows the image displayed by The Freestyle to remain clear, like watching a large TV. Samsung itself claims this device can display an image equivalent to a TV screen display up to 100 inches in size. However, the maximum resolution displayed is only stuck in Full HD (1080p) quality. In addition to functioning as a TV substitute, The Freestyle can also be used as a smart speaker and room light. With the smart speaker feature, this device can receive user commands via voice using the user’s favorite digital assistant services, two of which are Bixby and Alexa.
Then, this device can also be ordered to play music while shooting visual illustrations (visualizer) at a wall or flat object surface in front of the device.
