Looking for an easier way to stop Spotify from automatically playing music on certain devices? It’s harder than you might think.
Spotify has updated how its autoplay feature works with Spotify Connect devices. Autoplay is now on by default and there is no way to turn it off. This means that after completing an album, playlist or song selection on a device other than your phone or PC, Spotify will continue to play the recommended tracks indefinitely.
“The autoplay setting is enabled automatically and by default for any connected device,” confirms a spokesperson for Spotify. This means that whenever you play music on a device that is not your PC or phone, AutoPlay will continue playing on that device. “At this time, there is no way to choose whether you want to enable autoplay on a connected device. If you wanted to prevent Spotify from playing automatically on connected devices, you had to vote for the idea.
Fortunately, Spotify implemented a change on December 10 so that you can stop autoplay on connected devices. Here’s how to turn off these features.
How to prevent Spotify from playing automatically Update the Spotify app on your PC or Mac. Open the Settings menu and select ” Proofreading.’To fall over’Autoplay‘disabled, and it should now work as expected.
Spotify indicates that this setting will persist when using a device connected via mobile. But you have to manage the setting with the desktop app – not the Spotify mobile app.
How to prevent Spotify from playing automatically – Android
If you’re still having trouble with Spotify automatically playing music after you finish listening to a playlist, read on. Android users have another solution that they can try to nip this behavior in the bud. When a Bluetooth device is connected to the phone and playing, try these steps.
Open the ‘of the phoneSettings‘menu. Press’applications‘parameter to open it. Scroll down to find ‘Spotify‘and press. Then search for the ‘Drums’ setting.Disable ‘Allow background activity.’
This prevents Spotify from doing anything without being opened manually. It also removes the ability to listen to Spotify with your screen turned off, but there’s no option to turn off autoplay when connecting to a car, unless you’re on Android.
