Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – World oil prices moved up in trading this morning. Chaos in Kazakhstan is a sentiment that drives the price of black gold.
On Friday (7/1/2022) at 08:38 WIB, the price of Brent oil was at US$ 82.45/barrel. Up 0.56% over the previous day and touching a record high since November 11, 2021.
Meanwhile, the light sweet type or West Texas Intermediate (WTI) costs US$ 79.94/barrel. It added 0.6% and was the highest since November 16, 2021.
It seems that the world oil market is responding to developments in Kazakhstan. Mass riots to Russian intervention are becoming world’s attention.
The situation in the former Soviet Union is indeed tense. People staged large-scale demonstrations against the increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM), which took effect at the beginning of this year. But the action was widespread, even to occupy vital objects such as airports.
Seeing this situation, Russia deployed military forces to Kazakhstan. The Russian army participated in suppressing the demonstrations, of course with repression. According to witnesses (including local police) Russian soldiers killed dozens of demonstrators overnight.
“Peace forces were sent to Kazakhstan for a limited time in order to normalize the situation,” the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) said in a statement.
