Today’s Ingenuity Helicopter Will Perform Its 19th Flight Mission on Planet Mars

TRIBUNNEWS.COM — Helicopter NASA on a mission in Planet Mars, Ingenuity continue his mission on the red planet.

Ingenuity will make its first flight in 2022.

This Friday (7/1/2021), this 1.8 kilogram helicopter will fly and be the 19th flight for robot weighs 1.8 kilograms.

Ingenuity will fly as high as 63 meters for 100 seconds.

The flight will take the tiny helicopter out of the rugged basin known as South Séítah, over the ridge and into the highlands, according to Space.

“Although short, the flight had a challenging start due to the absence of the helicopter’s sandy terrain features,” said Martin Cacan, pilot Ingenuity di Jet Propulsion Laboratory NASA Southern California.

Ingenuity itself first landed on Mars on February 18, 2021.

The helicopter also managed to show that air exploration is possible on Mars even though the planet’s atmosphere is thin.

Ingenuity then undertakes an even broader mission by exploring the terrain of the Jezero Crater to hunt for life on Mars.

Jezero Crater consists of a large lake and river delta that is billions of years old. Ingenuity later by air will help robot Perseverance explorers tasked with examining the remains of life in the river delta.
