Duel between teams led by Portuguese this Thursday at the King Fahd Stadium, in Riyadh, for the Saudi Arabian Super Cup. Leonardo Jardim’s Al Hilal got the better of Daniel Ramos’ Al Fisaly, through the penalty shoot-out.
Al Faisaly even started better, much better, because even before half an hour into the game they were already winning 2-0, goals from Al Amri (16′) and Amalfitano (24′). Al Hilal, however, reduced it in the 40th minute, with a spectacular bicycle kick from Al Dawsari, being even before the break in numerical advantage, by sending off Cape Verdean striker Júlio Tavares (direct red).
Leonardo Jardim’s team then assumed the expenses of the game in the second half and would reach the equalizer in the 53rd minute, by Al Shahrani, after assistance from Marega (ex-FC Porto). Shortly after, Al Faisaly still had a goal disallowed for offside, but at the end of the 90 minutes, equality prevailed.
In the penalty shoot-out, three of Daniel Ramos’ players failed, against two of Al Hilal (Gomis and Matheus Pereira, a former Sporting player). Result: 4-3 and Leonardo Jardim added another title, after having won the Asian Champions League in November.
