Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing have released a shocking theory about the possible origins of the Omicron variant.
They claim that it may have been created in the body of a mouse. Their theory was published in the Journal of Genetics and Genomics and refutes the prevailing theory that Omicron’s polymutant spike sequence evolved into a prolonged infection in a patient with severe immune deficiency.
The theory is that the mouse was infected with the human virus through “reverse zoonotic transfer”, in which the virus evolves all 45 mutations and then transmits back to humans.
Researchers are still investigating whether the mouse may have been infected accidentally or intentionally; and if by chance – how the virus has spread to humans again; and if intentional, why the virus is allowed to spread “outside.”
