For the past year 2021, the Blood Donors Association, together with NGOs and other stakeholders, collected more than 41,000 pints of blood. The president of the Blood Donors Association, Devanand Hossen, believes that the difficulties were indeed present last year, following the confinement and the vaccination campaign. For the year 2022, the targeting will be on young people so that they become potential donors.
“We have established a calendar for the year 2022 to avoid shortages in the blood bank. With the celebrations like Cavadee, Maha Shivaratri, Ramadan and Easter, we will have several people who will start the fast. Therefore, during this period, we will have fewer donors. I appeal to potential donors, so that they donate their blood before starting Lent. Moreover, I also invite young people to register at Club Pledge 15 where they will be able to donate their blood at least 15 times during their lives. It is good to know that a pint of blood saves not only the lives of three people, but also of three families, ” said Devanand Hossen.
