Kudus (ANTARA) – The Health Office (Dinkes) of Kudus Regency, Central Java, recorded the number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) during 2021 as many as 175 cases or higher than in 2020 which recorded 40 cases.
“The number of dengue cases in 2021 is indeed quite high compared to the previous year, while the number of deaths in 2021 was recorded at three cases or lower than the previous year which reached five cases,” said Head of Sub-Coordinator for Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases at the Health Office of Kudus Regency, Nuryanto in Jakarta. Holy Thursday.
During 2021, he said, the highest cases occurred in November 2021 reaching 26 cases, while in December 2021 there was a decline to 23 cases, but still higher than the previous months.
For the first week of January 2022, he said, there were five cases of dengue fever reported.
He revealed that the increase in dengue cases in 2021 was due to seasonal anomalies which had an impact on the breeding of mosquito larvae to be faster, so it must be anticipated by keeping the home and surrounding environment clean and healthy.
In addition, he said, the erratic season can also cause a person’s immune system to decrease, so that when bitten by mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus, they are easily exposed because their low immunity is unable to fight the virus.
The Kudus Health Office mobilizes puskesmas to provide education on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and eradication of mosquito nests (PSN) through draining bathtubs or water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and burying used goods that have the potential to collect rainwater so that they are not used as places for breeding mosquito larvae. it is possible to carry the dengue or chikungunya virus.
“We are also promoting that every house has a larva monitoring interpreter (jumantik) so that each resident ensures that their house is free of mosquito larvae, especially residents whose bathrooms still use the bath tub must be checked regularly for mosquito larvae or not,” he said.
According to him, efforts to eradicate DHF through PSN are quite effective, compared to other methods such as selective abatization and fumigation.
In each village, banners are also installed about anticipating dengue fever with various effective steps and efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.
