The confession of a woman who, according to her exclusive testimony for eXtra.cz, was sexually abused by Pavel Trávníček (71) in 2000, when she was only fifteen years, sparked a debate about the limitation period and the current form of criminal proceedings for sexually motivated acts. Many perpetrators leave court only with low sentences or their actions are time-barred. However, according to MP Klára Kocmanová (Pirates), this is not the most fundamental problem. Above all, it is said that there is a need to create an environment where any abuse will not be downplayed.

In my opinion, the most important thing is for victims to have confidence in the system and to report abuse and rape as soon as possible., “said eXtra.cz Kocmanová, according to which it is above all necessary to create an environment – both in public space and in workplaces, schools, etc. – in which any abuse will not be downplayed, will be dealt with immediately and will be punished more severely. “I believe that the adjustment of the definition of rape in the Criminal Procedure Code will also help,” says Kocmanová, who would define the adjustment as announced by the Pirates in the election program.
According to the MEP, threats on social networks should also be addressed. “ATIt’s time-barred … but I think the fact that the victims, especially among public figures, is afraid of what would happen if they reported them is a big part of that. After all, there was a lot to know about the testimonies of the victims in the case Dominika Feriho. I believe that we will break this taboo as a society, “adds the politician.
