As students return to classrooms, it is expected that we will be experiencing a high peak in coronavirus infections, in addition to the other respiratory diseases that are also occurring. But this should not be an impediment for children and young people to resume their academic activities, but to increase the protocols as they have been ensured by the directives of the schools and also the health entities.

What do the people of Cartagena say?
Academic work with students will be 40 school weeks, and although COVID continues to be a concern, the return to face-to-face classes is a necessity. El Universal learned the opinion of Cartagena parents, through a survey on social networks, these were some of the responses:
“Well, if there is a return to schools, since everything is face-to-face for rumba, and an ignorant people does not go”; “Although it is true that everything is in person, rumbas, shopping centers, banks, etc. But they are adults, children do not have the same degree of responsibility and less so if they are from preschool ”; “Presence must be made effective in schools. Suffice to say that our children are going to get infected, they already go to shopping centers, movies, restaurants, parks and others. At this time we must learn to live with these viruses ”; “It is so illogical that they still ask that, when they did not ask about face-to-face parties, festivals, work in person.”
In most of the comments, people claim to agree with the return to school, because this is not what will stop the infections, since children and young people are exposed to the rhythm of life that the people around them maintain: parties , shopping centers and all kinds of outings.
School directives
El Universal consulted with Luis Manuel Carvajalino, president and founder of the Cartagena International School, who said that it is time to face the poor educational quality left by COVID.
According to the educator, the question is that life continues normal in other aspects. Invites to return to classes, but with the appropriate measures to do so. “As a school, we have to increase biosecurity measures, we must triple the campaigns, demand more forcefully that the mask be used, demand and put sinks and alcohol for the constant cleaning of the hands.”

“The poor quality of education left by COVID was fatal, we cannot continue with that. The children lost their customs, academic discipline, they lost respect for the timetable and academic customs such as being in uniform. They learned to make fun with the computer, to cheat on exams. This left us bad habits and we are ready to rescue them, ”Carvajalino declares.
