Covid-19 in Colombia today, January 5, 2022: cases and deaths – Colombia

The increase in covid-19 cases continues in Colombia, this Wednesday, January 5, 2022, the Ministry of Health reported 16,259 infections and 40 deaths.

According to the report, 91,099 tests were processed in the country (30,383 of PCR and 60,716 of antigens). In addition, 6,418 recovered were reported.

In this way, Colombia reached 5,219,633 confirmed coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, in March 2020.

On the other hand, with the 40 deaths reported this Wednesday, deaths from covid-19 in Colombia amount to 130,140.

In total, there are 73,378 cases that remain active in Colombia.

The areas of the country where infections were most reported are: Valle (5,412), Antioquia (4,050), Bogotá (3,113) and Barranquilla (576).

Regarding the progress of the National Vaccination Plan, the health authority reported that, with a cut-off at 11:59 pm on January 3, 64,986,015 doses of the vaccine against covid-19 have been applied in the country. Of that number, 33,093,318 correspond to the first dose; 23,136,316 to second dose; 3,429,374, booster doses, and 5,327,007 are from the single-dose vaccine.
