A tragic incident occurred in a club in Berlin. A 25-year-old died after visiting a discotheque. The police are investigating drug crimes.
Terrible end to a night of partying: In Berlin, the police were called to the RAW site in Berlin-Friedrichshain early on Monday morning. The reason: A 25-year-old was found “apparently lifeless” around 4 am on the toilet of a club.
The police and public prosecutor’s office confirmed t-online. The woman was believed to have suffered cardiac arrest after a drug overdose.
Rescue workers took care of them on site and then took them to a hospital for treatment. On Thursday afternoon the certainty: “The criminal police just announced that the woman died in the hospital,” a police spokesman told t-online. A death investigation has been initiated.
The exact background is still unclear. At the moment, one does not assume third-party negligence, the police said on Friday. It is now being determined who could possibly have sold the deadly drugs to the woman.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the dead woman is a young Irish woman who has been living in Berlin for some time. She allegedly consumed the drug GHB (gammahydroxybutyrate, editor’s note), also known as “Liquid Ecstasy”, reported the newspaper “BZ”.
Club excludes “respect and piety”
An entry by the “Suicide Club” on Instagram caused speculation. Because he posted a post in German and English on Wednesday in which he announced that “due to the unforeseen and tragic circumstances” that should have occurred last weekend, the club will no longer be open for the time being. This is done out of “respect and piety,” it said. The doors of the club should remain closed for a weekend.
Below the entry, some commentators also linked the accident with the drug “G”, an abbreviation for GHB. There are repeated warnings about the drug, it can easily be overdosed. “The difference between the dose that brings the desired effect and the dose that leads to a toxic coma is small,” says the drug advice site drumgcom.de. GHB can also be poured into victims’ drinks as a so-called rape drug.
In addition to the “Suicide Club”, there are other party locations on the RAW grounds. The neighborhood is popular with tourists.
