As the breeding season 2022 is fast approaching, and many breeders still do not know which sires to send their mares to, here is the opportunity to discover more in detail the thoroughbred stallions who will officiate in the South- West this year. Today, let’s take a look at top-sprinter Fas, the first son of the exceptional Fastnet Rock to breed in France, at Haras de Saint-Vincent under Thierry Dalla Longa.

This horse is not just “a physique”. He is also from “good family” and has a CV. rich in solid “references”. In short, the “ideal son-in-law” in other words. Moreover, his few “in-laws” to have granted him the hand of their (s) “daughter (s)” in 2020, feel very satisfied with the “children” resulting from these “marriages”. This is good, because Fas is, again, a heart to be taken for 2022, still in its districts of the Hautes-Pyrénées, in Haras de Saint-Vincent from Thierry Dalla Longa where he will again be offered at the very affordable price of € 2,200 per covering (the same as since his entry into the stud in 2020, editor’s note).

Having first of all defended the casaque of his breeder, Zalim Bifov, then that ofAlain Jathiere and of Ballylinch Stud, who joined together “late” in the ownership of the horse, Fas immediately tilted in the summer of his 2 years (in 2016), easily – and very pleasantly – winning a race with conditions (the Prix d’Auquainville) over the 1,200 meters straight line from Deauville – La Touques. Because yes, sprinting was indeed the sport of choice for this former resident of Pia Brandt, who then finished third in the Prix Saraca (L.) and Eclipse (Gr.3) then fourth in the Critérium de Maisons-Laffitte (Gr.2), during the same 2-year-old.

Coming back stronger, physically AND mentally at 3 years old, Fas made a victorious reappearance at Chantilly, on the occasion of the Prix Ronde de Nuit (L.), before gearing up with a new success, obtained in the important Prix Sigy (Gr.3), at the end of which he notably managed to advance by almost four lengths a certain Precise, winner of the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (Gr.1) that same year in 2017. After a 3-year mixed summer (13th Prix Maurice de Gheest and 7th Prix de Meautry) a 4-year-old year in Ireland, under the rule ofEdward Lynam, for whom he was at best classified third in a Gr.2 at the Curragh (Minstrel Stakes), and several health problems having prevented him from approaching his best level, Fas returned to the Cantilian boxes of Pia Brandt for whom he again won two quick distance races and ended his sporting career with a fourth place in the Prix Luthier (L.).

Holder of five victories (including two “black-types”) and a bank account exceeding 152,000 €, Fas was not blissful only by his exploits in competition, but also by his physique, which allowed him to stand out. of its competitors as soon as it arrives in the round of presentation. Strong points, depth and rear hand developed well beyond the average, which he seems to have inherited from his father, the excellent Fastnet Rock… and that it in turn transmits to its products! He will remain moreover as the very first son of this very talented Australian sprinter, father today of about fifty Gr.1 winners in both hemispheres, to enter stud in France.

On the maternal side, Fas is the first product of the winner on the flat Sotka, also placed second in a Prix des Rêves d’Or in Vichy (L.), for the training of Gina Rarick. A good mare in racing, but also at stud, since she then gave birth, in addition to Fas, to three other winners, out of the six to have gone – and still be – to training. Among them, Silva, daughter of Kodiac winner of the 1,000 Guineas (L.) de Meydan (by more than nine lengths), as well as a Prix Bertrand de Tarragon (Gr.3), at ParisLongchamp, again for the tandem Zalim Bifov/Pia Brandt. Note also that Sotka is a sister of the no less good Sole Power, real champion in the 3-year-old sprint and winner of twelve times, notably of two Nunthorpe Stakes (Gr.1), two King’s Stand Stakes (Gr.1) and an Al Quoz Sprint (Gr.1).

With everything going for him, from model to performance via pedigree, Fas is called upon, like his illustrious father, to do well at stud, with his first yearlings who will tread the sales rings this season, before hoofing the greens. backdrops for racetracks in 2023. The future is on … and it begins now!
