EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltendberg the concentration of Russian forces near the borders with Ukraine, as well as Russian proposals in the field of security. This was announced on Tuesday, January 4, by the European Foreign Service.
It is noted that the conversation between the two politicians took place on the eve of Borrel’s trip to Ukraine.
Borrell and Stoltenberg, as noted, “discussed the military strengthening of Russia on the border with Ukraine, as well as two draft security agreements sent by Russia to the United States and NATO.”
“They also discussed the preparation to the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council January 12 “, – the message says.
It is also indicated that Borrell noted the need for de-escalation and full implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia.
“He stressed that any further military aggression against Ukraine will have serious consequences and a high cost,” added the European Foreign Service.
