Minnesota coach Evason confirms Marco Rossi’s NHL debut in Boston – winter sports – ice hockey

On the night from Thursday to Friday the time has come in Boston: Marco Rossi makes his NHL debut for Minnesota Wild!

The Vorarlberg will be pulled up by Minnesota coach Dean Evason on Tuesday afternoon for the time being in the taxi squad. Together with Matt Boldy, the 20-year-old is officially only allowed to train with the team.

After the first training with the raised top talents, the chief supervisor confirmed to a media panel that both Rossi and Boldy will play their first NHL game on Friday night at the Boston Bruins. The first round pick of the 2020 NHL draft will even be able to look forward to an ice age in the power play. “Rossi and Boldy will play in power play because our superior number game was bad recently,” said Evason.

The recently extended Wild coach hopes that this will give him new impetus in the previously poor game with at least one more man on the ice. With a success rate of 16.8 percent, the game are only in 25th place in a league-wide comparison.

The 20-year-old explained to the “VN” before his call-up: “The situation is currently very emotional for me. Exactly a year ago I was sick with corona, had myocarditis and was not able to play ice hockey. Now I am about to fulfill my childhood dream “.

“I trust the Minnesota Wild 100 percent. I feel ready,” said Rossi after his first training session. “I’ll just try to play my game. I want to show everyone that I deserve this place.”

Rossi was drawn ninth in the 2020 draft by the Minnesota Wild, but missed his first season in North America with a heart disease. This season Rossi played on the farm team for the Minnesota Wild in the AHL, Iowa Wild. The attacker scored 23 points (7 goals, 16 assists) in 21 AHL games.

His debut for Minnesota Wild on Friday night at the Boston Bruins (1:00 a.m.CET) can now be eagerly awaited.
