The offer of the European representation of the Toyota brand will be expanded by the sports-tuned Hilux GR Sport pick-up, which will offer a modified chassis and a new styling.

Toyota has introduced sports-tuned derivatives of the popular Hilux pickup in several markets, including a specific JDM version and the Revo GR Sport model for Thailand. Now, however, the pick-up in a version referring to the brand’s sporting achievements is finally heading to the old continent as well.
At first glance, the GR Sport version differs from other Hilux versions, for example, with a new front bumper with a car-painted lower part, a redesigned radiator grille with the Toyota logo and the GR logo or a matte black grille frame. Also new are the vertical air intakes above the fog lights.

The body is also decorated with decent fenders in the body color, black mirror covers, a black step under the door and several GR Sport graphics. The underbody has 17 “alloy wheels fitted to all-terrain tires, while the headlights offer LED technology.
In the cabin, the Hilux GR Sport should impress with the new sports seats with leather upholstery, synthetic fabric, red stitching and GR Sport logos. GR Sport emblems are also on the carpets, stop-start button or instrument panel graphics. The indicated carbon decors on the dashboard, supplemented by a red line, are also interesting. But the combination is a bit spoiled by the blue backlight.

A novelty is the modified chassis, which has new shock absorbers with stiffer springs at the front, both of which are painted red. At the back, there were leaf pens, which were re-tuned within the facelift of the model.
According to the carmaker, minor modifications to the chassis should significantly affect the handling, driving performance and comfort. At the same time, the car did not lose its tonnage and its ability to tow a braked train weighing up to 3.5 tons.

Under the hood then remained a fully standard 2.8-liter diesel four-cylinder with an output of 150 kW with a maximum torque of 500 Nm, which is connected to a six-speed automatic. In addition, the car should be equipped with an automatic self-locking differential.
Equipment details may still vary with respect to end markets, but the new Hilux GR Sport is expected to appear at European dealers later this summer.
