JAKARTA Florona is a combination of infection flu and corona the same time. Unlike Alpha, Beta, Delta, Omicron, florona is not a mutant variant of the corona virus. This is a case of multiple respiratory tract infections caused by Covid-19 and pathogens influenza .

Reporting from the Times of India, Tuesday (4/1/2022) when the virus from these two infections is present simultaneously in the body, this condition is referred to as florona. Both influenza and flu cause infections of the respiratory system that cause more or less the same symptoms.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) a person can suffer from both infections at the same time and share the same symptoms such as sore throat, cough, runny nose, fever, headache and fatigue. The severity of the condition varies from person to person.

Some have mild symptoms, while others have severe signs. However, both conditions can be fatal if not treated on time. In Covid-19 a person experiences a loss of taste and smell, which is unrelated to the flu.

Even the post-infectious complications seen in Covid-19 cases disappear when infected by the influenza virus. As diseases of the upper respiratory system, both the flu and Covid-19 are transmitted through virus-contaminated aerosol particles released by an infected person when coughing, talking or sneezing.

When a healthy person breathes air or touches a surface contaminated with the virus, the pathogen enters the respiratory system where it begins to multiply. It usually takes two to 10 days for symptoms to appear after being infected with the virus. Also, the risk of spreading the virus to others is greater during the early days.

With a decrease in temperature, the risk of influenza or flu increases so that it can cause multiple respiratory tract infections. Experts were concerned about double infections even last year during the pandemic, but no such cases were reported at the time.

It could be because of the strict lockdown imposed in various parts of the world. While currently there is an easing of regulations so that new double infections were reported this year.
