“That matter [rumor melatih timnas Malaysia senior] never talked to me at all. I never really thought about that possibility. I only focus on tasks with the U-23 national team. I never even thought about managing the senior team,” said Maloney.
“I’m sad that Cheng Hoe is leaving. I think he’s done a very good job since managing the senior team, including in difficult times. The Malaysian team has played well and achieved positive things. So I’m very sad to hear this news,” he said. Australian coach.
Maloney was then asked about the trend in Southeast Asian football, where some coaches manage more than one national team, such as Park Hang Seo in Vietnam and Shin Tae Yong in Indonesia.
Shin Tae Yong not only coached the senior Indonesian national team. The South Korean coach also handles the U-23 and U-19 national teams. However, Maloney did not dare to follow in Shin Tae Yong’s footsteps.
“As I said, I have not heard from FAM to coach the senior national team. I also never thought about coaching the senior national team,” said Maloney.
“This year’s U-23 national team has a tight schedule, very tough, with four to five tournaments. The senior national team also has several tournaments. So realistically, I don’t see that possibility,” said Maloney.
