State Secretary Alexandra van Huffelen finds it “very honorable” that she has been asked to join the cabinet again. She regrets that she will leave her current post, Allowances, but she is confident that her successor, VVD MP Aukje de Vries, will handle the childcare allowance affair well.
“I did it with heart and soul,” says the state secretary who was appointed in 2020 because of the allowance affair. “And I will also miss the parents and all the people I worked with to solve big problems.”
Van Huffelen will become State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitization in the new cabinet. “I think that is also a very nice post. This is a new policy area for me. I still have to delve into many topics, first do some homework.”
