The rights to David Bowie’s work were bought by Warner Chappell Music

According to Variety magazine, the agreement is worth $ 250 million (5.5 billion crowns). The legacy covers almost six decades of the musician’s work.

The deal covers 26 studio albums Bowie recorded during his lifetime, as well as singles, soundtracks and other projects. The company will also be entitled to the posthumous Toy album, which will be released this Friday, almost exactly seven years after the singer’s death.

“We are really pleased that David Bowie’s music is now in the hands of Warner Chappell Music Publishing,” said Allen Grubman, the lawyer in charge of the estate, according to the BBC. “We are sure they will respect him and take care of him as dignified as possible.”

Under the agreement, virtually all of Bowie’s productions will fall under Warner Chappell Music, which AFP, along with Sony and Universal, is one of the top three companies in the market.
