The book by Boba Fett Eventually admits the Bounty Hunter isn’t as cool as fans initially thought. The legend of Boba Fett was made long before its official debut in. founded The Empire Strikes Back – when Kenner Toys started handing out an action figure of a mysterious armored man. Described as “terrifying interplanetary bounty hunter“And a threat to both Han Solo and the Rebel Alliance, Boba Fett appeared in the Star Wars Christmas Special, and the public was quick to consider him the best of the best.
The core problem, however, is that George Lucas’ own films don’t really seem to treat Boba Fett that way. He is a force to be reckoned with The Empire Strikes Back, but he’s quickly pulled out in Return of the Jedi, in a scene that even Lucas himself apparently found disappointing. Fans were disappointed, and the old Expanded Universe did its best to restore Boba Fett’s reputation by portraying him as an action hero who escaped the Sarlacc with sheer courage and determination – and shot out of his throat in spectacular triumph. That was Boba Fett as the fans had always imagined him: relentless and unbeatable.
The book by Boba Fett, however, goes to great lengths to portray the bounty hunter as his own three-dimensional figure – a flawed, fragile man who fights, stumbles, and survives only with the skin of his teeth. Most visible is how Boba Fett escaped the Sarlacc. In the canon, the creature was killed when Jabba’s sailing barge crashed on it, which gave Boba Fett an opportunity. He used his flamethrower to burn himself out of the Sarlacc, but the escape was far from spectacular – Boba crawled up the sand pit before passing out. He survived, but by luck and skill, and it was a close one.
Boba Fett had brought his canon back The Mandalorians Season 2, which – in a blatant act of fan service – had hyped the idea that he was an absolute force of nature. The Boba Fett from The Mandalorians The character fans had always imagined was as deadly in hand-to-hand combat as a dead man with a gun who could easily plow through an army of stormtroopers. However, The book by Boba Fett seems to be more loyal to the bounty hunter from the films of George Lucas, an impressive warrior who still gets by with luck and whose luck sometimes comes to an end. This is a man who still needs war of stars‘Bacta treatment years after the Sarlacc, simply because his body has been through so much.
This, of course, leads to criticism from fans who fell in love with the mystique of Boba Fett and were expecting a hero similar to its Legends equivalent – a powerhouse that shot unscathed from the jaws of a Sarlacc, a thoroughly great villain who it cannot be hit and its injuries never even slow it down. However, The book by Boba Fett made fan favorite character more engaging and increased the overall stakes by highlighting Boba Fett’s more flawed, more human traits.
