Afghan intelligence services said today that they had seized nearly 3,000 liters of contraband alcohol, which they dumped in a canal in Kabul, AFP reported.
The Taliban authorities in Afghanistan strongly condemn the sale and consumption of alcohol.
In a statement issued by the Directorate General of Intelligence, the intelligence service of the Islamic Emirate, the service said it had seized and destroyed 3,000 liters of alcohol after an operation in a district of the Afghan capital in which three men were arrested.
“Muslims really need to refrain from producing and procuring alcohol,” a senior Afghan intelligence official said in the video.
The sale and consumption of alcohol had already been banned during the previous Western-backed Afghan government, but the Taliban, known for their harsh version of Islam, have stepped up persecution of alcohol since coming to power in mid-August.
