ALERT! Dengue cases are still a threat

AMLAPURA-The case of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Karangasem Regency is still a threat. Especially in the current rainy season, the potential for the spread of dengue is very high. Data from the Karangasem Health Office shows that there are 153 cases until November 2021.

The head of the Karangasem Health Service, Dr. I Gusti Bagus Putra Pertama, admitted that dengue was still a serious threat. Especially during the rainy season. “Every month it fluctuates. The trend is up and down,” he said.

However, compared to the previous year, the number of dengue cases in 2021 is not as bad as in 2020, which reached 919 cases. Even then, in the first quarter of 2020 alone, the number of reported dengue cases reached 245 cases. While the first quarter in 2021 reached 64 cases.

“At this time of the rainy season, people should improve the discipline of healthy living, and also maintain environmental cleanliness,” he asked.

Putra Pertama emphasized that the Operational Working Group (Pokjanal) for the Eradication of DHF in each village needed to be activated. “If it is active, dengue cases can be suppressed,” he added.

In addition, several other efforts, such as controlling mosquito vectors through fumigation and the movement to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN) naturally continue to be intensified by officers in the field. Such as giving abate powder to placing pet fish to eat mosquito larvae so they don’t grow. “Thus cases of dengue can continue to decrease,” he said.
