Lithuanian border guards have detained seven Iraqis with forged documents on a bus from Riga
Vilnius, January 2, LETA – 15.MIN. Lithuanian border guards stopped a Riga-Prague shuttle bus on the Marijampole-Suwalki road near the Polish border on Friday, carrying seven Iraqis with forged Italian passports, residence permits and a French passport.
Border guards found the documents to be forged and one residence permit in Italy and a French passport issued to other persons.
The border guards found out that the seven men were Iraqi citizens seeking asylum in Latvia. They also had certificates from the Aliens Registration Center in Latvia.
According to preliminary data, the Iraqis left Latvia illegally before the examination of their applications was completed. Border guards got the migrants off the bus and detained them.
The Border Guard has launched a pre-trial investigation into forgery of documents.
