Riga, January 2, LETA. The food concert “Orkla Latvija” will invest four million euros in the expansion and modernization of “Spilva” production this year, Toms Didrihsons, Chairman of the Board of “Orkla Latvija”, told LETA.
In addition, the construction of a new biscuit and waffle production competence center is planned to be completed this year, which will create around 300 new jobs.
According to Didrihsons, this year “Orkla Latvija” aims to further develop the company’s brands, as well as strengthen its position as a sustainable, leading consumer brand company in the Baltics.
“Every year, the company invests four to five million euros in development, modernization and maintenance, and so is the plan for 2022 – to develop all production facilities by investing in energy efficiency, automation and sustainable production,” commented Drichichon.
Asked about the investment projects implemented in 2021, the head of “Orkla Latvija” expressed satisfaction with what was done last year. He listed the strengthening of the Laima brand, the opening of a new plant in Ādaži, and the company’s sustainability and energy efficiency projects – several solutions were implemented during the year to reduce wastewater, reuse heat, reduce energy losses and the like.
It has already been reported that the Laima brand plant was opened in September, with 20 million euros invested in the creation and development of the brand over the past five years. Most of these investments have been invested in the establishment of the new plant, while less in packaging, design and other Laima brand development projects.
It has already been reported that Orkla Latvija had a turnover of 104.2 million euros and a profit of 4.6 million euros in 2020, LETA was informed by the company. Thus, according to the calculations of the agency LETA, the turnover of the group increased by 22.3%, while the profit – by 63.9%.
In Latvia, “Orkla” represents and develops “Laima”, “Selga”, “Staburadze”, “Ādažu Čipsi”, “Pedro”, “Spilva”, “Gutta”, “Latplanta” and other brands. The company is part of the Norwegian concern Orkla.
