His first movie was Disney’s “Aladdin”. Even in elementary school, he read non-fiction cinema books and built up a film collection at the same time. Sure, he had to end up here at some point.

Eric Bana is investigating a brutal tragedy in nowhere in Australia: The bestseller adaptation “The Dry – Lies of the Past” is now available on Amazon Prime Video.

In the early 2000s, Eric Bana appeared in several major Hollywood productions: He was the tall, green title character in Ang Lee’s Marvel adaptation “Hulk” and fought his way through “Troy”. As a result, the Australian mostly took on roles in smaller projects – and as a character actor, he generally gets a much better response from the press, as for his performance in Steven Spielberg’s visually stunning drama “Munich”.

Robert Connolly’s thriller “The Dry – Lies of the Past” has so far received mostly positive to very positive feedback, not least because of Bana’s performance as an investigator who is investigating a very personal case. In Germany, however, the adaptation of Jane Harper’s bestseller “Heat” was not shown in theaters. In return, it can now be streamed on Amazon Prime Video just a few months after the DVD premiere – and at no additional cost if you have a Prime subscription.

This is what “The Dry” is all about

Federal agent Aaron Falk (Eric Bana) is returning to his hometown after more than 20 years – and for a sad reason: his childhood friend Luke (Martin Dingle Wall) is buried. He allegedly took his own life shortly after murdering his wife and child. It is believed that Luke lost his mind after ten years of grinding drought in his home community.

Although Falk is initially reluctant, he agrees to investigate this double homicide-suicide incident. That quickly depresses him, not least because the investigations awaken unpleasant memories of the tragic death of Ellie Deacon (BeBe Bettencourt), who was only 17 at the time. Falk believes the two cases are linked, although several decades separate them. If his theory were correct, it would mean Luke is innocent. Does Falk have an excellent instinct for the truth, or is the wish alone the father of the thought??
