It will happen only a few days after the White House host contacted his colleague in Russia, prezidentu Vladimiru Putinu.
The two exchanged warnings and promised to continue to find a diplomatic way out of the tension.
According to the White House, Biden is set to “reaffirm US support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, discuss Russia’s concentration on Ukraine’s borders and review preparations for forthcoming diplomatic contacts to help de-escalate the situation in the region.”
Zelensky said that the leaders of the two countries would coordinate their steps in the interests of Ukraine’s peace and European security. He added that Ukraine had agreed with the United States that nothing affecting Ukraine would happen without Ukraine.
CONTEXT:
In Russia, several military units have been sent to the border area with Ukraine, according to Western intelligence services. Ukraine also has evidence that Russia has begun to adapt its commercial air and rail systems to military purposes.
Meanwhile, Western countries have repeatedly warned Moscow not to escalate tensions in the region.
Russia, on the other hand told methat the West is expected to provide legal guarantees of security, including NATO’s promise not to pursue enlargement, to exclude Ukraine and other countries from the Alliance, and to renounce any hostilities in Ukraine, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
