Astrid Smeplass’ first song in Norwegian takes her to the top of the VG list for the first time in over four years.

The artist is currently enjoying great success as an actor. Over half a million have so far seen the 25-year-old play the title role in the remake of “Three Nuts for Cinderella”.
In connection with the film, Smeplass released the song “When the snow melts” two months back.
And it has not only struck: It now turns out that the song has knocked out all other Christmas hits in Norwegian homes in the last week, and is at the top of Norway’s official hit list, VG-list.
There it leaves behind annual Christmas wipes with Mariah Carey, Wham !, Chris Rea, Maria Mena and Michael Bublé – and the new big international Christmas hit, Sias “Snowman”, which topped the list earlier in December.
– It’s amazing that my first song on Norwegian tops the VG list! I have received so much good feedback. It has been fun to see what life the song has got. It means a lot to me, says Astrid S in a message to VG.
Was unsure
Since 2013, she has had a long list of Top 10 hits, but you have to go back to the autumn of 2017 to find her first and so far only number one hit on the VG list, “Think Before I Talk”.
It was also for 2017 that she was awarded the Spellemann of the Year award.
Smeplass already has a new hit to refer to after the release of “When the snow melts”; the duet «Pretty» with Dagny recently reached 10th place.
In a live video on TikTok in early December, Smeplass revealed that the two had been a little unsure whether to release “Pretty”.
There she also said that it became crucial that the song was wanted to be used in the Hollywood film “The Hating Game”, a romantic comedy.
“When the snow melts” has at the time of writing passed six million plays on Spotify. “Pretty” has 3.3 million.
