The prefect of Guadeloupe took the hand, after the decisions of the Council of State, following the Municipalities of 2020, in Ste-Rose, Lamentin and Capesterre de Marie-Galante. Alexandre Rochatte must ensure the management of current affairs, for the days (months) to come, in the three municipalities.
The decision fell on Thursday, December 30, 2021: the Council of State confirmed the decision of the administrative court of Guadeloupe by declaring ineligible, for two years, the mayor of the commune of Sainte-Rose, Claudine Bajazet and, moreover, the high court confirmed the cancellation of the municipal election of March 15, 2020, in Lamentin and the municipal election of June 28, 2020, in Capesterre-de-Marie-Galante.

Since then, the services of the Palais d’Orléans in Basse-Terre have studied the decisions of the Council of State and the prefect has taken the lead. Alexandre Rochatte communicated this afternoon on the terms of future operations in the three municipalities.

A special delegation appointed by the Prefect will be set up, in each municipality, within eight days, in order to fulfill the functions of the municipal council (articles L.2121-35 et seq. Of the general code of local authorities).
It will be made up of three qualified people.
A by-election will have to be organized, within three months, in these two municipalities, that is to say at the latest on March 30, 2021, explains the local representative of the State.

Claudine Bajazet, mayor of the municipality of Sainte-Rose, for her part, has automatically resigned from her mandate as mayor, municipal councilor and community councilor.
The municipal council, completed by the first unelected from the list led by Madame Bajazet, must be convened to replace him within 15 days (article L.2122-14 of the general code of local authorities).
A new election of deputies will be carried out.
