Legendary comedy actress Betty White, the “first lady of television”, died at the age of 99, just days before her 100th birthday, after an eighty-year career in Hollywood, reports dailymail.co.uk

She has left a huge legacy as a comedian, actress, writer, animal rights activist and one of the first women to appear on television.

Her best-known roles are in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Golden Girls.” She holds the Guinness World Record for Longest Entertainment TV Career.

During her career, White has received eight Emmy Awards, three American Comedy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and one Grammy Award.

White’s career in entertainment lasted more than nine decades, first appearing on the radio program Empire Builders in 1930 at the age of eight. Several years later, White switched from radio entertainment to television. White has hosted several US game shows. Betty White is known for her role as Rose Nile in the comedy series Sweethearts. White is a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the U.S. Television Hall of Fame in 1985.

On December 31, 2021, she died asleep, eighteen days before her hundredth birthday.
